Miss Snowfall Investigates – A Sexy Sapphic Golden Age Murder Mystery
A fog-shrouded London. A murdered magazine editor. And a sexually liberated amateur detective who is about to discover that solving crimes can be horribly complicated…
It is 1928, and Penelope Snowfall has discovered that writing bogus horoscopes for the Modern Housewife is an easy way to earn a guinea. But when an unforeseen pea-souper descends on London, the only way she can get her copy in on time is to deliver it in person. And when she arrives at the magazine’s office, she discovers its formidable editor, Eva Marlowe, dead at her desk with a paperknife in her chest.
There is, as Penelope and her life-long best friend and sidekick Flora Cavendish soon discover, no shortage of suspects. Everyone on the editorial staff has a motive. But who had the opportunity to commit a murder in a busy magazine office?
As ever, the adventurous Penelope finds herself distracted from the task at hand by an amorous dalliance with beautiful bright young thing Magenta Marlowe, who to complicate matters is destined to inherit the Modern Housewife and is herself a suspect. It is not a conflict of interest that deters Penelope, but could their naughty night together derail the investigation?
With a cast of eccentric women, a fog-bound London office, questionable editorial practices, and romantic entanglements, Miss Marlowe’s Final Deadline is a comic sapphic mystery and affectionate tribute to the Golden Age detective story.
